Avoid injuries and tiredness…
Always tired halfway through your ski or snowboard holiday?
Concerned about an old injury or a potential injury?
The answer is to prepare your body during the weeks leading up to your holiday. It will help to improve performance and reduce the chance of injuries and falls.
Preparation and Training…
Get fit for the slopes. Specific training is important because winter sports use different muscles to your other activities. For example, at home, cycling, playing tennis and running.
A lot of people don’t know how to correctly train, prepare and work those muscles.
Training…
Training is all the more important because ski resorts are at high altitude.
And being on the slopes every day can be an intense strain on your body and muscles.
But the aim of your holiday is to enjoy it and not have the fun curtailed by strains and aching joints or even injury.
Exercises for Skiing & Snowboarding…
Performed regularly, the following drills will help improve overall fitness, posture, balance and even technique.
- Wall Squat
- Step-Ups
- Lateral Jumps
- Walking Lunge with Trunk Rotation
- Hack Squat
Snowboarding specific:
- Deadlift
- Cobra Back Extensions
- Sideways Crab Walk
- Plyometric Jumping Rotations
- Medicine Ball Woodchopper
These are all very effective exercises to help develop ski/snowboarding strength and fitness and get you fit for the slopes!
